UTF-8 encoding not working in eclipse on Mac OS X Yosemite

I read several articles here about a similar problem. However they were relating to Windows. I am trying to develop an App using german chars but choosing UTF-8 as encoding in eclipse displays the characters (ä, ö, ü and ß) as question marks. I reverted to ISO-8859-1 and it works just fine.

Any idea why is the UTF-8 not working?
